Hiring Felons – Beyond fear and ignorance

With the increasing access to legal records and criminal background checks, businesses are routinely excluding felons from being considered for employment without the benefit of any personalized process to understand whether or not they would make good employees. Yet, hiring Felons can assist offenders to integrate back into society. It can reduce repeat crime, lessen the burden on the prison system and ease the financial burden on the offender's families.

This workshop will educate businesses and employment agencies about the real issues and social solutions associated with hiring felons. It covers the risks and benefits of hiring felons and provides the knowledge and resources to accurately assess a person on their own merits. It also provides a model from which to make hiring decisions and practical resources to prevent, identify or abate any problems that occur.
