Ali Buckman, LCSWAli Buckman holds a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. She has experience providing clinical services to families, adolescents and young adults in various settings. Ali has worked individually and in group settings with a clinically-diverse population of clients. Her expertise includes working with clients who struggle with eating disorders, substance abuse, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, self-injury, depression, anxiety and issues related to sexual orientation and the coming out process. In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Ali is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and a former drama teacher. She is dedicated to using her clinical psychotherapy skills as well as her training in yoga, drama and DBT to help clients experience the mind/body connection and aid them in an active exploration of their internal and interpersonal challenges. Throughout the therapeutic process, Ali encourages clients to use awareness to open up to new and alternative ways of being. Through an exploration of the past and present, she hopes that each client will uncover insight into their thoughts, emotions and behavior that will empower and support them in transforming their lives. “The bud stands for all things, even for those things that don’t flower, for everything flowers from within. Though sometimes it is necessary to re-teach a thing its loveliness, to put a hand on the brow of the flower, and retell it in words and in touch that it is lovely, until it flowers again from within.” - Galway Kinnell |
