Elizabeth Messana, LPC
Elizabeth Messana holds a Master's degree is Clinical Counseling from National Louis University. Prior to graduate school, Elizabeth received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University, majoring in Religious Studies. At the Center for Contextual Change, Elizabeth provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy to adolescents, women, and men.
Prior to working at the Center for Contextual Change, Elizabeth worked for a well regarded hospital in an intensive outpatient program. She has experience working with individuals and families struggling with depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, thought disorders, life transitions, loss, and other mental health issues.
Elizabeth believes in the unique and powerful energy behind developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship with her clients. Elizabeth understands that the need to survive is based on habitual behavior, and in order for successful growth to occur, awareness and practice must be present within the therapeutic relationship; thus, yielding new, and effective behaviors. Elizabeth is eclectic in her therapeutic style, and utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help her clients build upon their resiliencies to find healthy coping skills.
"What I like most about change is that it's a synonym for 'hope'. If you are taking a risk, what you are really saying is 'I believe in tomorrow and I will be part of it." -Linda Ellerbee-
