Understanding and healing the confused, problematic sexual behaviors in traumatized children

Children who are prematurely sexualized and develop problematic sexual behaviors are inundating the child welfare system at an alarming rate. It is imperative that the interdisciplinary team is equipped to effectively assist these children. This workshop provides an accurate understanding of children with problematic sexual behaviors and suggests the most effective methods of treatment.

Participants will learn the continuum of sexual behaviors and develop a deeper understanding of how and why these behaviors surface. We will offer concrete applications that include: how to communicate with children and their caregivers about sexual behaviors, how to obtain accurate information when an incident occurs, and what to do if a child is engaging in problematic sexual behaviors in your presence.
